Nitrous Oxide (Laughing Gas)
Nitrous oxide, also called laughing gas, is a safe and gentle way to help children relax during dental treatment.
It’s a sweet-smelling gas mixed with oxygen that your child breathes through a small nose mask. Within minutes, it helps them feel calm, light, and comfortable while staying awake and responsive.
Ideally, have your child eat a light meal 2–3 hours before the visit and avoid heavy foods right before the appointment.
Once the procedure is done, we flush the gas out with pure oxygen — its effects wear off within minutes, so your child can return to normal activities right away.
Nitrous oxide is one of the safest forms of sedation in dentistry and is often the best option for mild anxiety or sensitive gag reflexes.
